Making Wedding Flowers

They have been a symbolism of new hope and a bright and happy future ahead. The bride and groom would no doubt feel like they are in heaven with flowers blooming everywhere at their wedding reception. Not just a decoration, wedding flowers have been a tradition for years. A wedding would somehow seem incomplete without them.

How to Make Flowers For Your Own Wedding

Hiring a wedding planner/coordinator or a florist so that your bouquet will be professionally made can is of course an option. But if you are on a strict budget, and have a little imagination, there is no hurt or shame in making them on your own. They can still look elegant and stunning, and as long as you know what color and kind of flowers to use the tips below will help you in bringing your wedding flowers display to life.

Choosing flowers
When deciding what flowers to choose, keep the theme and the color of your wedding in mind. You should be careful to make sure it will match or blend with the entourage and the bride’s gown. Another thing to keep in mind here is the availability of the flower you are using. Depending on the season, you can order the freshest, the most available and the cheapest kind of flowers. Flowers like baby’s breath, orchids, gardenia and roses are readily obtainable no matter what time of the year. By choosing this option carefully you will save yourself a considerable chunk of money which can be put towards your honeymoon.

Preparing and Making Your Wedding Flowers
The bouquet that the bride carries down the aisle is where flowers play the biggest part, yet it is so easy to create your own. First, gather up all of your materials. You will need about two to three dozen of your chosen flower(s), a sharp pair of scissors, some florist tape, and of course ribbons. It is a good idea to order your flowers for the day of the event and get the freshest pick possible. Start by choosing three roses that you would use as the centerpiece of your arrangement. Puff air into the center of each flower to give it a fuller look. Put them all together, and try to create a triangle. Now stack each flower unevenly; each one should have a slightly different level of height. By using this technique you will add dimension and depth to your wedding flower arrangement. Now simply continue adding up two to three flowers at a time until they form a dome. Once you reach this stage, just tie them up with your florist tape around 8-10 inches below the flowers.

You may want to ask for some help when taping up the stem, as you might have difficulty holding all 36 flowers and tying them together at the same time. Finally finish off with a nice matching ribbon that suits the color of your flowers and of course your wedding dress. You could tie them up in a bow but be sure to cover all of the florist tape with ribbons. Carefully cut the excess stems with a good sharp pair of scissors about an inch below the ribbon. Place the bouquet on your chosen container or in a vase with a quarter inch of water or if you wish, you could store them in a fridge covered by a loose plastic bag. Finally, spray the flowers with water being careful to avoid getting the ribbons wet.

That’s all there is to it. That’s how you easily customize your bouquet and save yourself a small fortune. Remember to check your arrangement in a mirror with you holding it so you would picture how it would look like to someone else. Wedding flowers can still look stunning without sacrificing your budget. And now you will be ready to walk down the aisle with that pretty and personalized bouquet of flowers in your hand.
